The next generation is even more committed to video than ever before

People born after 2000, sometimes referred to as Gen Z, are the first generation to grow up exclusively as digital natives. This means that their education is closely linked to digital technology: they do not know a life without iPhone, Netflix, social networks, and especially the Internet. It has dramatically changed the way the industry will make video available to consumers in the future.

Gen Z and Millennials grew up consuming videos differently from other generations. They almost exclusively attract online streaming and video sites ranging from Facebook and YouTube to Netflix and Tik Tok. The formula for creating successful video content has been forever changed by this new medium that prioritizes short videos on demand.

According to Cisco, a Fortune 100 company, it is estimated that 82% of global Internet traffic will be video content by 2022, up from 75% in 2017. Additionally, Google research shows that more than 70% of shoppers in line say the video helped them. Learn more about an automotive product they want to buy. As consumer spending habits rise and peak between the ages of 34 and 55, this trend will continue to grow as Gen Z and Gen Y enter this age group. If you look at all video consumption, YouTube reaches more than 18 to 49 in the United States than any other cable network in the United States, according to Google Chief Commercial Officer Omid Kordestani.

What does this mean for us as video producers? This means that we are always up to date with current new trends in video production and animation. Since it only takes a fraction of a second to click, we need to create content that grabs the viewer's attention. With over 500 hours of video uploaded to YouTube per minute, standing out from the crowd is more important than ever. Also, according to Hootsuite, a social media marketing company, more than 70% of YouTube views are on mobile devices. This means that we must create a compelling visual story along with a compelling message that engages viewers with the content.

When creating an animation, video, or even audio production, it's important to keep it short and engaging. In this changing landscape, video production is becoming increasingly relevant to consumers, and video is increasingly in demand for a variety of platforms. Regardless of the stereotypes or judgments that exist about Gen Z or Millennials and their massive shift to short video content, they will soon be the most important age group for most consumers.
