Miller uses them/them pronouns, which GQ Great Britain declared to be done "in a punctual refusal to be gender". Miller stated that, for them, queer means "I do not identify as a man. I do not identify as a woman. I hardly identify as a human." Having used all pronouns interchangeably, Miller has also stated that they are "comfortable with all pronouns" and that "they let him ride, and that's fine." Although Miller has been credited as a queer icon, GQ Britain stated that they also avoid the term queer, "as even queer is a label to them."
Miller revealed to have had a personal #MeToo experience with a Hollywood producer and director, both unnamed. Miller said, "They gave me wine and I was ageless. They said, 'Hey, do you want to be in our movie about the gay revolution?' And I said, 'No, you guys are monsters.' " Miller then showed his support for the #MeToo movement.
